Pedestrian Killed in Sorrento Valley Accident on Mira Mesa Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 12, 2021) – A pedestrian died after an accident on Mira Mesa Boulevard in the Sorrento Valley neighborhood.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the fatal crash occurred on Saturday. Officers reported the collision shortly after midnight.
The incident began when a male pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart in the right hand lane of Mira Mesa Boulevard in Sorrento Valley. At the same time, a red Honda Civic was going east.
Police said the car then struck the man in the 6600 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard. The driver hit him for an unknown reason near the intersection of Flanders Drive.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the victim lying on the ground. He sustained two broken legs a skull fracture and internal injuries as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel soon pronounced him dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the 20-year-old man driving the Honda stopped after hitting the victim. Officers forced a portion of Mira Mesa Boulevard to shut down for a time following the crash.
The cause of the Sorrento Valley pedestrian collision is still under investigation.
