Vehicle Strikes, Kills Man on Ramp From 805 Freeway to Highway 54 Friday
South Bay, CA (August 28, 2021) – A deadly pedestrian accident occurred late Friday in the area of Interstate 805 Freeway and State Route Highway 54.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported a man, believed to be a homeless person, was seen standing close to traffic lanes around 11:10 p.m. The pedestrian eventually stepped into the traffic lanes.
Subsequently, an oncoming vehicle failed to avoid and hit the homeless man. Our sources indicated the catastrophic incident took place in the transition ramp from Interstate 805 to State Route 54.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident in South Bay, August 27
Responding emergency teams found the pedestrian lying motionless in the right lane of the ramp. Despite life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his injuries and died. The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the death of the pedestrian. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the name of the fatal victim remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, the driver appeared unharmed after following the collision. Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate several factors surrounding the deadly pedestrian accident in South Bay.
