3 Injured in South Lake Tahoe Crash on Chonokis Road Near Pioneer Trail
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (May 23, 2022) – Several were hospitalized after a DUI crash on Chonokis Road in South Lake Tahoe.
According to an article published by the Tahoe Daily Tribune, the accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:10 p.m.
The incident happened on May 21 when two vehicles collided head-on in South Lake Tahoe. The cars crashed on Chonokis Road, near Pioneer Trail.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found three occupants of one vehicle hurt. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car Head-On
Medical personnel took them to the Barton Memorial Hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the names of the patients and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police determined the the woman driving the other car was under the influence of alcohol. They added that she had a 3-year-old passenger with her when she caused the incident.
Officers soon arrested the driver for DUI and child endangerment. Police forced a stretch of Chonokis Road to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the South Lake Tahoe crash is still under investigation.
