Pedestrian Dies at Hospital After Accident Near Columbia Avenue Friday
Riverside, CA (January 9, 2022) – Spencer Smith, a 38-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries following a traffic collision that occurred on the Interstate 215 Freeway.
According to the article published online by the Riverside County News Source, Smith was an occupant in a Jeep SUV traveling south on I-215. In the area near Columbia Avenue, the Jeep SUV collided with several other vehicles.
Preliminary investigation revealed Spencer Smith exited his vehicle after the crash. While standing outside his car, an oncoming vehicle was not able to slow down and struck the pedestrian.
The force from the impact resulted in severe injuries to Smith. When medical personnel arrived at the location, they immediately rendered aid to the victim. Our sources indicated paramedics rushed the patient to Riverside Community Hospital. The patient eventually succumbed to his injuries and died.
Additional details on the deadly accident have not been discussed thus far. At this time, detectives continue to investigate liability in the fatal crash on Interstate 215 in Riverside.
