 Stolen Yacht Crashes into Other Vessels in Newport Harbor NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (March 11, 2022) – One person was hurt Thursday when a stolen yacht crashed into other vessels in Newport Harbor.

Joel Siam, 38, of San Diego, allegedly stole a docked yacht about 9:30 a.m. on March 10th and went on a joy ride. He reportedly collided with other vessels in Newport Harbor, police said.

Police subsequently arrested the man on suspicion of stealing the 60-foot yacht, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The yacht was being serviced or repaired at the time of the theft and its keys were left on board. The yacht repair person walked away from the vessel and that’s when Joel Siam reportedly took the vessel.

Siam allegedly crashed the yacht into multiple other boats. At least two suffered damage and as the vessel embarked on a joyride around the harbor before crashing into a sea wall near the Lido Island Bridge, police said. The collision resulted in a minor injury to Debora Dolly who was aboard one of the vessels.

Investigators continue to work on the case.
