1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Taft Crash on South Lake Road Near Gardner Field
TAFT, CA (March 28, 2022) – A car crash killed one person and seriously injured another on South Lake Road east of Taft.
According to the Taft Midway Driller and Bakersfield Now, the tragic accident took place on Monday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 12:22 p.m.
The incident happened when an Acura SUV was going east on South Lake Road near Taft. At the same time, a Chevy pickup truck was traveling west.
For an unknown reason, the two cars collided head-on. The California Highway Patrol said the vehicles crashed just east of Gardner Field Road.
2 Cars Collide Head-On
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They confirmed that the driver of the Acura SUV died as a result of the collision.
The motorist in the Chevy pickup truck sustained a broken leg upon impact. Medical personnel took the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced South Lake Road to shut down in both directions following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Taft crash is still under investigation.
