Newman, CA (August 11, 2022) – A teenager suffered serious injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred in the area of Kern and S Street.

According to Modesto Bee News, a Toyota sedan struck a young man walking inside a crosswalk near Orestimba High School. Earlier reports indicated the collision took place shortly before 8 a.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Toyata ran a stop sign. Officials believed the car hit the boy at about 25 mph.

Major Pedestrian Accident at Kern and S Street in Newman

When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the pedestrian suffered in injuries–including a possible head trauma. Paramedics requested a helicopter to airlift the victim to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for further treatment and evaluation. Authorities only identified the patient as a 17-year-old male.

Meanwhile, the driver involved in the accident reportedly stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation process. Detectives handling the case continue to work to determine the precise cause of the crash that happened at Kern and S Street in Newman.
