KERN COUNTY, Calif. (March 16, 2022) — Two people were killed, one was injured Saturday in a head-on collision on Highway 33 in the North Belridge area of Kern County.

The two-vehicle crash happened just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 12th, just southwest of Lost Hills, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two men who died were riding together in a Honda that collided head-on with a Toyota. The crash happened on Highway 33 near Lerdo Highway, police said.

CHP officials report the Honda was traveling northbound on Highway 33 when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The car reportedly swerved veered into the southbound lanes where it crashed head-on into the Toyota driven by Adam Alvarez, 36, of Corona.

Alvarez told authorities he applied his brakes, but couldn’t avoid the collision.

The two men in the Honda both died, but Alvarez survived with moderate injuries.

Paramedics transported Alvarez to Kern Medical for treatment of his injuries, the CHP said.

The traffic accident remains under investigation.
