Man Killed in Van Nuys Hit-and-Run on Hazeltine Avenue Near Gault Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 14, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Hazeltine Avenue in the Van Nuys neighborhood.
According to The Daily News and KTLA News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the collision shortly before 9 p.m.
The incident happened on June 13 when a male pedestrian was crossing Hazeltine Avenue in Van Nuys. At the same time, a vehicle was going north.
Los Angeles police said the motorist then struck the victim for an unknown reason. The car, described as a silver colored sedan, hit him just south of Gault Street.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the man in his 30s left lying on the ground. He sustained critical injuries as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel soon rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he died. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the sedan did not stop to render aid and fled the area. They added that the car obtained severe damage to the front-end and windshield area after hitting the man.
Authorities are searching for the suspect. Officials forced a portion of Hazeltine Avenue to shut down for a time following the hit-and-run crash.
