Veronica Galaviz, 40, Seriously Injured in Visalia Crash at Highway 198 and State Route 65
VISALIA, CA (November 26, 2022) – A DUI crash seriously injured Veronica Galaviz at Highway 198 and State Route 65 in Visalia.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 40-year-old Exeter woman as one of the victims in the wreck which took place on Friday.
The incident happened when Veronica Galaviz was driving a Infiniti QX60 south on State Route 65, approaching Highway 198, in Visalia. At the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado west on Highway 198.
Drunk Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Victims
CHP said the Chevrolet then ran a red light at the intersection and slammed into the Infiniti. The impact pushed the Infiniti into a Nissan Frontier and a Mazda 3 waiting at the eastbound Highway 198.
The FOX 26 News and Your Central Valley wrote that the collision occurred on November 25 at around 11 p.m. Veronica Galaviz and the driver of the Chevrolet sustained major injuries following the crash.
The five children riding the Infiniti, ages 6 to 13, survived the accident with moderate to major injuries. Paramedics rushed all the patients to hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the motorist in the Silverado was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the victims. Officers forced the intersection to shut down after the wreck.
The cause of the Visalia crash is still under investigation.
