Pedestrian Dies at Hospital After Hit-and-Run Collision Near Highway 1
Watsonville, CA (May 12, 2022) – Victor Gonzalez Paredes Jr., a 24-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred on Main Street.
According to Santa Cruz Sentinel, a vehicle struck the male party on Main Street near Highway 1 on May 5. Earlier reports indicated the horrible crash took place at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Responding emergency crews found the pedestrian lying in the roadway. Due to the serious condition of the victim, an air ambulance transported the patient to a trauma center. The pedestrian later sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The Santa Cruz County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Victor Gonzalez Paredes Jr.
Officers confirmed the driver involved in the unfortunate event fled the scene. Initial investigation revealed the hit-and-run suspect was driving a dark-colored sedan; and possibly sustained right front-end damage due to the force from the impact.
Detectives continue to determine several unclear factors surrounding the fatal hit-and-run crash on Main Street in Watsonville.
