Victorville hit-and-run Interstate 15 Palmdale
1 Killed, 1 Injured in Victorville Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 15 Near Palmdale
VICTORVILLE, CA (February 8, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a child and injured a woman on the Interstate 15 near Palmdale Road in Victorville.
According to an article published by The Daily Press, the tragic accident took place early Tuesday. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:10 a.m.
The incident began when a Hyundai SUV was going north on the Interstate 15 Freeway near Palmdale Road in Victorville. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling slowly in front of the Hyundai for an unknown reason.
The California Highway Patrol said the SUV failed to slow in time for the car ahead. In the process, the Hyundai slammed into the rear of the slower moving vehicle.
The SUV became disabled in the traffic lanes. A 4-month-old boy riding in the right rear passenger seat of the Hyundai sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon rushed the child to the Victor Valley Global Medical Center where he died.
The 30-year-old Apple Valley woman driving the SUV survived with minor injuries. A 4-year-old boy sitting in the back of her car ended up unharmed.
The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the rear-ended vehicle did not stop to help and fled the area.
Officers forced the northbound Interstate 15 to shut down near Palmdale for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Victorville hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
