Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Vista Crash on Melrose Drive Near North Drive
VISTA, CA (February 14, 2022) – A motorcyclist was critically injured after a crash on Melrose Drive in Vista.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the accident took place late Monday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 11 a.m.
The incident began when a 23-year-old man was riding a motorcycle on Melrose Drive, just north of North Drive, in Vista. At the same time, a box truck made a U-turn in front of the motorcyclist.
Motorcycle and Box Truck Collide
The sheriff’s officials said for an unknown reason, the two collided. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the rider lying unresponsive on the ground.
He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon rushed the patient to the Palomar Medical Center in Escondido in critical condition.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party, Meanwhile, deputies did not mention if the driver of the box truck ended up hurt or if they stopped following the wreck.
Officers forced a stretch of Melrose Drive to shut down after the incident. The cause of the Vista crash is still under investigation.
