At Least 1 Killed in Traffic Collision on Riverside Road Friday
Watsonville, CA (October 1, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol group reportedly deadly truck crash that occurred in the area of State Route 129 and Old Chittenden Road.
Initial records indicated two big rigs collided in the westbound side of SR-129, also known as Riverside Road. Due to the force from the impact, one truck apparently spilled hazardous materials on the highway. Authorities later mentioned the truck spilled hydraulic fluid and oil on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 129.
Shortly after 4:35 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the accident scene. First responders found at least one person trapped in the box truck. Firefighters worked extensively to free the victim.

The CHP dispatch later confirmed at least one person died as a result of the wreck. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the name and age of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Emergency crews shut down the crash site to give way to the investigation process. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine the precise cause of the truck crash in Watsonville.
