Child, 4, Seriously Injured in West Modesto Pedestrian Crash on Donald Street

WEST MODESTO, CA (September 11, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash seriously injured a child pedestrian on Donald Street in West Modesto.

According to an article published by The Modesto Bee, the accident took place early last month on August 6. Officers reported the collision at about 9:40 p.m.

The incident happened when the child, a 4-year-old boy, was standing with his caregiver near an ice cream truck in West Modesto.

At the same time, a white Dodge Nitro was traveling at a high rate of speed along Donald Street. The California Highway Patrol said the SUV then struck the pedestrian just east of Hancock Street.

Driver Hits Boy, Flees Scene

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim hurt. He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.

An air ambulance took the patient to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP added that the speeding driver did not stop to render aid and fled the area.

Officers forced a stretch of Donald Street to shut down following the collision. The West Modesto pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
