Girl Seriously Injured in Whittier Pedestrian Crash at Penn and Pickering
WHITTIER, CA (June 16, 2021) – A pedestrian accident seriously injured a girl at Penn Street and Pickering Avenue in Whittier.
The On Scene TV wrote that the collision took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers responded to a call of a crash shortly after 5:15 p.m.
The incident happened on June 15 when a female juvenile pedestrian was crossing the intersection of Penn Street and Pickering Avenue.
At the same time, a pickup truck was turning left from westbound Penn to southbound Pickering. Whittier police said in the process the car then struck the child in the south crosswalk.

The girl went airborne and landed on the ground, where the same car apparently ran her over. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found her semi-conscious on the road.
Medical personnel soon rushed the young patient to a trauma center for treatment of major injuries. Officials did not release her condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the pickup stopped after hitting the high school aged victim. The motorist stayed at the site and cooperated with the authorities.
Officers forced the area of Penn Street and Pickering Avenue to close following the crash. The cause of the Whittier pedestrian collision is still under investigation.
