Man in Wheelchair Fatally Struck by Vehicle Near Casa Loma Drive Sunday
Bakersfield, CA (January 19, 2022) – Willie Moten, a 64-year-old man, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on Lotus Lane on January 16, Sunday.
The Bakersfield Now News reported Moten was in a wheelchair and attempted to cross Lotus Lane. Our sources indicated an oncoming vehicle failed to notice and struck the pedestrian. The horrible crash took place near Casa Loma Drive in Bakersfield.
Shortly after 8:35 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the victim found with serious injuries. According to the article published online, the patient sadly died at Kern Medical Hospital approximately two hours after the incident.
The Kern County coroner identified the deceased as Willie Moten of Bakersfield.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the driver involved in the unfortunate event stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation process. Detectives continue to work at this time to determine liability in the deadly accident.
