Passenger Killed in Traffic Collision on Highway 16 Friday
Yolo, CA (June 5, 2021) – One person died following a suspected DUI car crash on Highway 16 on June 4, Friday, the Sacramento Bee News reported.
Officials said the accident involved a solo-vehicle. At approximately 1 a.m., a 2005 Toyota Corolla heading east on Highway 16 veered into the westbound lane. The vehicle began traveling the wrong way on the dirt shoulder. When the Toyota approached the area near County Road 94B, it slammed head-on into a culvert and pole. The force from the impact caused the vehicle to overturn between Woodland and Esparto in unincorporated Yolo County.
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found a female passenger ejected from the car. Paramedics rushed the woman to Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center, but she later succumbed to his injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
DUI Suspect Arrested in Yolo County DUI Car Crash, June 4
Responding California Highway Patrol officers reportedly arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Further investigation on the fatal DUI car crash in Yolo County is ongoing.
