Suspected DUI Crash Kills 3 Women on Highway 118
Granada Hills, CA (May 25, 2022) – Three people–Yvonne Joby, Yasmeen Jobeh, Jennifer Dagher, all died following an alleged DUI collision that occurred on Highway 118 on May 14.
According to an article published online by the Ventura County Star, three women were inside a 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 stopped for an unknown reason in the right lane of the highway in Granada Hills. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 convertible was approaching the area where the Mercedes-Benz C240 was stopped. Officials said the driver of the Mercedes-Benz SL550 veered to the right over the marked triangular section near the transition to 405 Freeway. Following the lane change, the moving car slammed into the stopped car.
The force from the impact caused the Mercedes-Benz C240 to smash against the sound wall. When rescue teams arrived at the site, they found the car fully engulfed in flames. Responding firefighters worked extensively to extricate the three women. Sadly, the driver and the two passengers all died as a result of the collision. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the fatal victims as 18-year-old Yvonne Joby of Ventura; 20-year-old Jennifer Dagher of Ventura; and 23-year-old Yasmeen Jobeh of Oxnard.
DUI Suspect Arrested in Granada Hills Car Accident
Meanwhile, police reportedly arrested the driver of the Mercedes-Benz SL550 on suspicion of murder. Investigators believed drugs or alcohol played a role in the catastrophic incident. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine several unclear factors surrounding the fatal crash. In relation to the accident, the suspect is due back for a preliminary hearing at the Clara Shortridge Folze Criminal Justice Center in downtown Los Angeles June 9.
