Zachary Gregson, 22, Seriously Injured in Ventura Crash on Pacific Coast Highway
VENTURA, CA (July 17, 2021) – Zachary Gregson was seriously injured after a motorcycle crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 22-year-old man as the victim of the accident which took place on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened on July 15 when Zachary Gregson was riding a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura. At the same time, a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer was going north.
The19-year-old Santa Paula woman driving the car then made a left turn into a beach parking lot. CHP said she went directly into the path of the motorcyclist.
In the process, the Chevrolet collided with the motorcycle. They crashed on PCH between the Solimar Beach and Emma Wood State Beach.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
The rider ended up ejected from his bike and hit a parked car along the west shoulder of the highway. The Ventura County Star wrote that the wreck occurred at about 2:28 p.m.
Zachary Gregson, a Ventura County Fire Department wildland firefighter, sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash.
Paramedics rushed him to the Ventura County Medical Center where his left leg below the knee ended up amputated. He also suffered several complications during his recovery, including a stroke.
Colleagues set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the current and future medical bills of the victim. Meanwhile, the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
