Tram Crashes at Universal Studios
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 22, 2024) — One person was critically injured, fourteen others had minor injuries Saturday night after a tram accident at Universal Studios Hollywood in Southern California.
The tram crashed into a railing at around 9 p.m. on April 20th, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Associated Press.
Authorities say the tram was turning on a curve in the roadway when the last car struck a metal guardrail and tilted over causing passengers to fall off the vehicle.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and located 15 people with injuries. While most of the injuries were minor, one person suffered major injuries and several were taken to a hospital.
“Our thoughts continue to be with the guests who were involved, and we are thankful that based on agency reports, the injuries sustained were minor. We are working closely with public agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, as we continue our review of the incident and safety remains a top priority,” a statement from Universal Studios said.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation.

People who are injured in California amusement park accidents should know that there can be more than one party held responsible. Indeed, a personal injury attorney will conduct an investigation into an accident to determine who is responsible.
Some of the parties liable could include the park owner, the designer of the attraction, a tour operator, government entity or a product manufacturer. Some of the typical reasons for an accident include poor maintenance, poorly trained employees or employee mistakes, manufacturer defects, poor design or defects in the manufacture of a ride and insufficient inspections.
