Multi-Vehicle Collision in Jurupa Valley Area of Riverside County
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (April 3, 2024) — A multi-vehicle car accident happened Wednesday morning on the westbound 60 Freeway, just west of Pedley Road in Jurupa Valley, Riverside County.
The three-vehicle collision occurred at around 8:52 a.m. on April 3rd, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The drivers of a white Toyota Corolla sedan, a dark gray Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a white or silver SUV were involved in the traffic accident. One of the vehicles wound up facing sideways. The pickup truck was found in the HOV lane, the white car in the middle lane and the SUV in the No. 2 lane, police said.
An iPhone in one of the vehicles alerted CHP dispatchers to the collision. Paramedics from Cal Fire Riverside responded to the scene to help those injured.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles and debris from the freeway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Riverside crash on the 60 Freeway.
Jurupa Valley and Riverside County Traffic Statistics
The city of Jurupa Valley had 421 injury and fatality collisions in 2021, according to data compiled by the Office of Traffic Safety. Furthermore, some 56 of those collisions involved a driver who consumed alcohol and seven of the drivers were under 21 years old.
Meanwhile, traffic accident deaths and injuries in Riverside County totaled 14,744 including 2014 involving drivers who were drunk and 154 underage drivers who consumed alcohol.
Finally, traffic fatalities are on the rise in California, up roughly 7.6 percent to 4,285 deaths from 3,980 in 2020,
