SUV Crashes Into Golden Life ADHC Center Killing Employee Inside
LA MESA, Calif. (July 30, 2021) — Braden Jockmyhn, 41, died Wednesday when he was struck by an SUV that crashed into an office building on University Avenue in La Mesa.
The collision happened about 5:30 p.m. at 7373 University Avenue in front of Helix High School, according to the San Diego Union Tribuen.
A 61-year-old man driving the SUV was traveling eastbound on University Avenue. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the roadway, up onto the sidewalk and into the glass Golden Life ADHC Center building. The SUV struck Braden Jockmyhn who was working inside the building.
A police officer driving behind the SUV witnessed the incident. Paramedics responded and performed life-saving measures on the victim at the scene. However, despite efforts, he died at the scene of the crash. The San Diego Medical Examiner identified Braden Jockmyhn on their website.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver to a hospital with undisclosed injuries, police said.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and whether or not drugs, alcohol or both were factors. Authorities sent a DUI homicide team from the county District Attorney’s Office to the crash scene to help the La Mesa police traffic unit with the investigation.
