Deadly Crash on Highway 101 in Prunedale
PRUNEDALE, Calif. (Sept. 13, 2021) — A fatal Prunedale car accident happened Monday morning on Highway 101 at Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
The multi-vehicle collision happened about 6:02 a.m. amid heavy fog on Monday, September 13th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At least two vehicles and a semi-truck were involved in the deadly collision, the report said.
The drivers of a white Nissan Altima and a white Toyota Sienna reportedly crashed head-on due to unknown circumstances. One of the vehicles wound up in the dirt on the side of the road with airbags deployed and major damage, the report said. The other vehicle ended up on the eastbound side of the roadway following the fatal Prunedeal car accident.

Also, a third vehicle involved is a double flatbed hay hauler truck that was reportedly side-swiped during the collision. The truck continued driving without stopping. The driver later contacted authorities after stopping at Don Chapin Company in Salinas.
Meanwhile, firefighters responded and extricated two people trapped in the wreckage on the westbound side of the roadway. At least one person died in the crash, but the report did not specify.
Additionally, the cause of the fatal Prunedale car accident and liability remains under investigation.
