Fatal Fresno Crash at Brawley and Church Avenues
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (April 8, 2022) – Jeffrey Nazaroff, 59, of Kerman, died in a Fresno collision with a suspected drunken driver at the intersection of Brawley Avenue and Church Avenue.
The deadly, two-vehicle crash happened on Thursday, April 7th at between a dump truck and an SUV.
Zdeineb Juarez Calderon, 22, of Fresno, was driving an SUV westbound on Church Avenue. Her vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at Brawley Avenue and crashed into the side of a southbound dump truck driven by Jeffrey Nazaroff, according to the California Highway Patrol. The impact caused the truck to swerve into the front yard of a nearby home where it crashed into a tree.
Sadly, the truck driver suffered major injuries and died after the crash. Meanwhile, police arrested the woman on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter. Authorities say she was driving with a suspended license. Police say Calderon has a previous arrest for a DUI in February. She is being held in lieu of $112,000 bail.
Investigators continue to work on the case and witnesses may contact the CHP.
