Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Interstate 5 Freeway in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 25, 2022) – A fatal Anaheim pedestrian accident happened early Monday morning on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Orange County.
The crash occurred about 12:52 a.m. on April 25th in the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 Freeway at Euclid Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police located the pedestrian in the No. 2 lane, but it’s possible the driver hit them in the No. 1 lane, the CHP said. It’s unknown at this time why the person was on the freeway.
Also, there was white vehicle debris found at the scene of the crash, but no driver in the area. Meanwhile, a witness told CHP dispatch operators the vehicle involved was a white pickup truck and may have left the scene.
Toyota Prius Struck Pedestrian on I-5 Freeway
However, a motorist driving a white Toyota Prius contacted the CHP at 1:33 a.m. to report he struck something on the freeway. The truck had damage to the windshield of the Toyota Prius and its right side mirror was missing. The driver reportedly pulled over at Disneyland Drive.
Finally, the CHP issued a SigAlert at about 1 a.m. They closed down all southbound lanes and reopened the far right lane about 1:30 a.m.
Additionally, the on scene investigation ended at 4:20 a.m.
The investigation into the Anaheim pedestrian accident is ongoing.
