Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Oakland Crash on I-80
OAKLAND, Calif. (August 19, 2022) — A fatal pedestrian accident on the Interstate 80 Freeway happened early Friday morning just west of the Berkeley Curve in Oakland.
The deadly collision occurred in the westbound lanes about 4:53 a.m. on August 19th, near the Bay Bridge toll plaza, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch. A driver in a silver Toyota Camry reportedly struck the victim in the roadway due to unknown circumstances. Sadly, the pedestrian suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
The CHP requested a response from the Alameda County Coroner.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the crash.
