Two Men in 20s Killed in Crash on Interstate 5
ELK GROVE, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2022) — Muhammad Suleman, 20, of Stockton, and Ahmad Ziab, 21, of Elk Grove, died in an Elk Grove crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
The collision occurred about 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20th in the northbound lanes of the I-5, just south of Hood Franklin Road, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner.
The vehicle reportedly overturned after apparently hitting a rumble strip. The driver, Ahmad Ziab, allegedly overcorrected, according to CBS Sacramento. That’s when he apparently lost control and swerved onto the shoulder before overturning several times.
Three of the four people in the vehicle were ejected and suffered major injuries. One passenger from the backseat died on scene. The driver and three others were transported to a hospital where the driver later died.
The condition of the two people who were hospitalized is currently unknown. One of them is from Isleton and the another from Stockton, California.
Investigators continue to work on the case, but drugs and or alcohol are not factors.
