1 Killed, 1 Injured in Crash on Highway 99
TEHAMA COUNTY, Calif. (March 29, 2024) — Abel Corza, 35, of Redding, died and Kirk Brown, 54, of Redding, was injured in a head-on crash on Highway 99 and Palm Street in Tehama County.
The deadly crash occurred on Friday, March 22nd, according to Action News Now.
Authorities say the 35-year-old Redding man was driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra and traveling northbound on Highway 99. For unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed the double yellow lines into the southbound lane of Highway 99.
The Nissan crashed head-on into the 54-year-old man’s 2019 Volkswagen Jetta traveling southbound on Highway 99.
Both Kirk Brown and Abel Corza were trapped in their vehicles and were extricated by firefighters.
Corza had major injuries and was airlifted to Enloe Hospital, while Brown was taken by ground to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
