Woman, Man Identified as Victim of Crash in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 2, 2024) — Alexa Pauline Lavigne, 24, and Daniel Vicente Delgadillo, 26,, both of Escondido, died in a two-vehicle crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway near Miramar Way.

The man and woman were riding as passengers in a Honda Civic sedan driven by an alleged drunk driver who collided with two other motorists.

The deadly chain-reaction collision involved a Toyota 4Runner SUV and a Chevrolet pickup truck. It happened at around 2:45 a.m. on March 16th, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The northbound Honda Civic reportedly rear-ended the Toyota SUV before the car was struck by an oncoming pickup truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Delgadillo and Lavigne were both thrown out of the sedan and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, police arrested the 25-year-old Escondido man who was driving the Honda as well as the 22-year-old Sun City man behind the wheel of the pickup truck on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
