Suspect in Deadly Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident is Arrested
COLUSA COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2022) – Police arrested driver Andres Melchor, 55, after he allegedly struck and killed a woman in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 45 in Colusa county.
The deadly crash occurred about 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29th, near the Colusa Casino, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 66-year-old woman was reportedly walking in a southbound direction on the Highway’s east shoulder when the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV struck her as she entered a southbound lane. The vehicle struck the woman and she died on scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV fled the scene without stopping to help her or call 911.
Police later located the suspect identified as Andres Melchor at his home.
The crash remains under investigation.
