Man, 35, Struck and Killed on I-5 Freeway
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (April 25, 2024) — Cesar Pineda, 35, of San Diego, died in a pedestrian accident on Saturday morning on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway in Chula Vista.
The deadly crash was discovered at around 3:15 a.m. on April 20th, just south of Palomar Street, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
A driver reportedly struck the victim in traffic lanes and continued driving without stopping. Meanwhile, a second car reportedly hit the man and the initial motorist returned to the scene.
Police and paramedics responded, but he died at the scene.
The case remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
