
Two Killed, Two Injured in Wrong-Way Crash in Porter Ranch
PORTER RANCH, Calif. (March 6, 2023) – Andres Quintanar, 37, and Gerardo Parra, 49, both died Sunday in a Porter Ranch wrong-way collision with a box truck on the Ronald Reagan 118 Freeway.
Furthermore, the truck driver suffered moderate injuries and the wrong-way driver survived with serious injuries. The crash occurred around 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, March 5th at the Tampa Avenue off ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two men were traveling together with the driver of a black Cadillac sedan. The vehicle was reportedly traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway, the CHP report said. The vehicle then crashed into an oncoming yellow box truck. The truck also crashed into the embankment on the right side of the off ramp.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and located two people in the sedan with fatal injuries. The driver of the car, and the truck driver, were both transported to regional trauma centers, the LAFD said.
Meanwhile, police issued a Sigalert around 4:53 a.m. and closed down the Tampa Avenue off-ramp and the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the westbound freeway.
Investigators continue to work on the case and and will determine if the wrong-way driver was under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.
The crash remains under investigation.
