Two Injured in Fiery Crash on Highway 43
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (March 12, 2024) — Two people were injured in a fiery crash Tuesday on Highway 43, just south of Avenue 112 in Angiola, an unincorporated community in Tulare County.
The collision occurred on the east side of SR-43 at around 6:43 a.m. on March 12th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The drivers of a car and a pickup truck were involved in the collision.
A Toyota caught on fire and its driver was trapped inside with a broken hip and a large laceration on their head. A bystander broke out the window and was trying to get the person out of the burning vehicle, police said.
Paramedics with the Tulare County Fire Department responded and arranged a Sky Life helicopter to transport a critically injured person to a hospital, but there are no further details. Also, a second person was transported by ground ambulance to Kaweah Medical Center in unknown condition.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the car and pickup from the roadway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Highway 43 crash in Tulare County.
