Arturo Ramirez Gomez, 28, ID’d as Suspect in Anaheim Fatal DUI Crash at Ball and Magnolia
ANAHEIM, CA (December 5, 2021) – Authorities detained Arturo Ramirez Gomez after a fatal DUI crash in Anaheim.
UPDATE: Man, 49, killed in Anaheim crash is identified
Police determined that the 28-year-old Anaheim man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Arturo Ramirez Gomez was driving a black Nissan Murano west on Ball Road, approaching Magnolia Avenue, in Anaheim.
At the same time, a Honda Accord was traveling north on Magnolia. Police said Arturo Ramirez Gomez ran a red light at the intersection and then struck the Honda.
1 Killed, 3 Injured in Wreck
One of the cars involved then collided with a Toyota Camry which was stopped at the red light. The Orange County Register and ABC 7 News wrote that the accident happened at about 1:53 a.m.
The rear-seat passenger of the Accord, a 49-year-old man, died at the scene. The other occupants of the Honda, three 30-year-old men, ended up suffering from minor injuries as a result of the wreck.
Paramedics arrived and rushed all three patients to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police added that Arturo Ramirez Gomez sustained minor injuries in the crash. Medical personnel took him for further aid.
Officers soon arrested and took Arturo Ramirez Gomez into custody on suspicion of DUI. The Anaheim DUI crash is still under investigation.
