Passenger Killed in Anaheim Crash; DUI Suspect Arrested

 Luis Cuara Fatal Anaheim Crash Ball Road, Magnolia Avenue (Dec. 5)ANAHEIM (Dec. 6, 2021) –  Luis V. Cuara, 49, of Los Angeles, died in a three-vehicle Anaheim collision that also injured three other people at Ball Road and Magnolia Avenue.

The deadly crash happened at 1:53 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5th at the intersection of West Ball Road and South Magnolia Avenue, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

Additionally, police arrested a Arturo Ramirez Gomez, 28, of Anaheim, on suspicion of drunken driving for allegedly causing the crash when he failed to stop at a red light.

2-Vehicle Crash at Anaheim Intersection

The suspect identified as Gomez was reportedly driving a black Nissan Murano westbound on Ball Road. As the motorist reached the intersection with Magnolia Avenue, he allegedly failed to stop at a red light, Anaheim police said.

That’s when the Nissan collided with a black 2016 Honda Accord occupied by Luis Cuara and three 30-year-old unidentified men. Luis Cuara was seated in the back seat and died at the scene, police said. Paramedics rushed the driver and two other passengers from the Honda to hospitals with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, one of the vehicles subsequently collided with a Toyota Camry that was stopped at the red light facing Magnolia Avenue. there were no injuries reported from that vehicle.

However, firefighters rescued one person trapped in one of the vehicles.

Police determined that the driver in the Nissan may be DUI and arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving.

Investigators with the Anaheim Police Department are working on the case and will determine liability for the deadly crash.
