2 Killed in Crash on I-580 in Tracy
TRACY, Calif. (April 2, 2024) — Azucena Perez, 32 of Fort Bragg, died early Sunday in a head-on crash involving an alleged wrong-way driver on the Interstate 580 Freeway, near Corral Hollow Road and Tracy.
The alleged wrong-way driver, Harold Liberty IV, 19, of Antioch, also died in the crash.
Three others were injured in the collision at around 2 a.m. on March 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported the 19-year-old Antioch man was driving a silver 2007 Honda Accord and traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the I-580, near the Corral Hollow Road off ramp, CBS News reports. The Honda collided head-on with an oncoming westbound 2023 Kia Telluride driven by Azucena Perez.
Upon impact, the silver Honda overturned onto its side and caught on fire.

The 19-year-old Antioch man was thrown out of the Honda and died at the scene. Also, Azucena Perez, was driving the Kia and was critically injured. She was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital in nearby French Camp where she later died.
Meanwhile, the woman’s passengers, a 35-year-old man, a two-month-old girl and a four-year-old boy were transported to a San Joaquin General Hospital. The man and toddler were treated for major injuries and the boy had minor injuries.
Police are working on the case and the names of the deceased were not released.
