Kern County Coroner Identifies Men Killed in Bakersfield Crash
Bakersfield, Calif. (July 26, 2021) — Billy Shane Travis, 44, of Ripon, and David Victor James Hamilton, 51, of Modesto, both died in a rollover crash June 16th on the Interstate 5 Freeway near State Route 43.
The car the men were riding in suffered a flat tire in the southbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway. This caused the vehicle to overturn and hit the center divider about 11 a.m. on July 16th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Billy Travis and David Hamilton were ejected during the collision as they were not wearing seatbelts, according to a report by Bakersfield Now.
Meanwhile, the body of one man flew across the freeway into northbound lanes where it collided with another vehicle. Additionally, the driver of that vehicle suffered major injuries upon impact. Police did not release the name of the injured man to the news media.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victims who died.
