Major Injury Crash on I-10 Freeway at Chiriaco Summit
CHIRIACO SUMMIT, Calif. (June 17, 2021) — A Chiriaco Summit truck accident happened Thursday morning on the westbound Interstate 10 Freeway.
The Interstate 10 Freeway collision happened about 7:12 a.m. on June 17th near the Chiriaco Summit area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP report states a big rig truck loaded with 13,000 pounds of cargo struck a stalled or disabled vehicle in traffic lanes at full speed on the freeway.
Both the grey sedan and the truck wound up somewhat off the roadway.

Meanwhile, a driver in the vehicle suffered injuries and a female was unconscious after the crash. At least one person was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries following the collision, but the report did not state how many were hurt.
Tow trucks removed both of the vehicles involved.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the Interstate 10 Freeway crash as well as liability.
