
Suspect Arrested on Hit-and-run, DUI Charges
CRESTLINE, Calif. (May 24, 2023) – A 13-year-old girl was injured May 12th after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Knapps Cutoff in Crestline.
The collision occurred around 4:14 p.m. on May 12th, according to the Mountain News.
The teenage girl had exited a bus and was walking on the roadway when the oncoming vehicle hit her and fled the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene to help the injured girl and a witness followed the suspect and informed police of their whereabouts.
Police say the driver was likely impaired and collided with several parked vehicles as he drove off.
Authorities located the suspect lying in a driveway near his vehicle at a residence and placed him under arrest for hit-and-run and possible, DUI charges.
Meanwhile, the 13-year-old victim was treated for moderate but non-life-threatening injuries.
The case remains under investigation.
