Dante Valerga, 24, Injured in Fatal Tehama County Crash on Highway 32
TEHAMA COUNTY, CA (June 1, 2023) – A fatal crash left Dante Valerga injured on Highway 32 in Tehama County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 24-year-old Westwood man as the victim in the wreck which took place on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Dante Valerga was driving a 2020 Jeep Renegade east on Highway 32, miles east of Highway 36, in Tehama County. At the same time, a motorcyclist was going west.
The rider entered a right-hand curve and for an unknown reason, lost control. The 33-year-old Chico man and his 2022 Honda Shadow began sliding on his right side across the westbound lane.
Motorcyclist Killed in Wreck
CHP said he then crossed the double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lane. Dante Valerga tried evasive actions but collided head-on with the motorcyclist.
The Lassen County Times and Action News Now wrote that the collision occurred on May 30 at about 3:35 p.m. Dante Valerga sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Paramedics provided aid to the patient at the scene. Meanwhile, the reports confirmed that the motorcycle rider died upon impact.
Officers forced a stretch of Highway 32 to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the Tehama County crash is still under investigation.
