Man, 63, Struck and Killed in State Route 94
SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (April 24, 2024) — Darryle Richard Lawler, 63, died in a pedestrian accident Monday involving a hit-and-run driver on State Route 94 in Spring Valley.
The crash was reported around 10:55 p.m. on April 15th on the eastbound side of SR-94 near Old Campo Road, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.
The man was reportedly walking in the highway lanes when an Audi A4 struck him, police said. The victim suffered major injuries and died at the scene. He was later identified by the San Diego Medical Examiner as Darryle Lawler.
Meanwhile, the driver from the Audi apparently fled on foot and left the vehicle at the crash scene, the CHP said.
Investigators reviewed the evidence and witness statements and determined the suspect is a 48-year-old Lemon Grove man, the report said.
The Spring Valley pedestrian accident case remains under investigation by the CHP.
