Bicycle Rider Struck, Killed at Apple Valley Intersection
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2021) — Dontril Biggs, 36, Apple Valley, died Tuesday in an Apple Valley bicycle accident at Pine Ridge Avenue and Jacarilla Road.
Additionally, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner reported the collision with a van happened about 12:52 p.m. on Tuesday August 31, 2021.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the Apple Valley intersection where they located the man suffering from major injuries. Paramedics responded and rushed the bicyclist identified as Dontril Biggs to Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Apple Valley Fatal Bicycle Accident
The white Ford van reportedly struck the bicyclist. “The van was traveling north on Jicarilla Road and the bicyclist was traveling east on Pine Ridge Avenue,” according to an Apple Valley Police Department press release. “The driver of the Ford stopped at the stop sign and proceeded to drive through the intersection, colliding with the bicyclist.”
Meanwhile, driver in the van was not hurt. Also, the person stopped and cooperated with the investigation.
Investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department are working on the case.
