Teenager Seriously Injured in Crash in Meadowbrook Area
Meadowbrook, California (April 29, 2021) – Eduardo Avila, 19, of Perris, was seriously injured and Nieto Ruiz, 26, killed Tuesday night in a collision on Highway 74 in Meadowbrook near Ethanac Road.
Additionally, the multi-vehicle collision happened about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27th, the CHP said.
Nieto Ruiz, 26, of Fallbrook, was driving westbound in a 2017 Honda Civic near the Guadalupana Produce Market.
Meanwhile, driver, Shaunice Denton, 28, of Moreno Valley, was leaving the market parking lot in a 2018 Mercedes-Benz Metris van.
Police say she didn’t notice an approaching Toyota Camry and swerved towards the eastbound lane.
Next, the driver in the Toyota swerved into the left lane to avoid the Mercedes. However, the two vehicles collided in the eastbound traffic lane.
The Toyota continued traveling until it crashed head-on into the Honda on the westbound side of the roadway.
Sadly, Nieto Ruiz suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Eduardo Avila survived with major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Shaunice Denton did not report any injuries.
Finally, the cause of the crash and liability remains under police investigation.
