Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Interstate 880 Freeway

 Eric Lee Nelson Killed in San Jose Motorcycle Accident on I-880 FreewaySAN JOSE, Calif. (March 30, 2022)  — Eric Lee Nelson, 33, of San Jose, died in a motorcycle collision Sunday afternoon involving a truck, just north of the East Brokaw Road on-ramp.

The San Jose man was riding a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 600 when he reportedly crashed into the back of a Ford F-150 pickup truck and then hit a metal guardrail on the right shoulder of the Interstate 880, according to California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 11:57 a.m. on March 27th in the southbound lanes of the I-880, CHP Officials said. The motorcyclist was thrown off the bike and died at the scene.

Eric Lee Nelson Crash Investigation

Police are investigating what led up to the collision between the two motorists. They will speak to the involved driver from the truck to find out if they changed lanes in front of the bike or if other factors led to the crash.

Witnesses did tell police the motorcyclist was driving “at a high rate of speed” and split lanes prior to the wreck.

There were no other injuries from the crash.

Authorities closed down all southbound lanes of I-880 for about an hour due to the investigation.
