Driver Flees Fatal Crash into Encampment; Man, 49, Killed
FRESNO, Calif. (April 1, 2024) — Ervin Price, 49, of Fresno, died early Saturday morning when a car cashed into an encampment at Highway 41 and Highway 180 in central Fresno.
The deadly collision happened at around 1 a.m. Saturday, March 30th near Highways 41 and 180, according to the the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities say a driver in a Land Rover SUV was traveling southbound on Highway 41 and attempted to turn at westbound Highway 180. However, the motorist failed to negotiate the turn and crashed into the embankment on the side of the roadway. The vehicle struck and killed 49-year-old Ervin Price who was living in the encampment.
Authorities managed to locate a passenger from the Land Rover and initially arrested her on DUI charges because they thought the 27-year-old woman was the driver.
However, investigators later realized she was the passenger and she was released.
Police know who the driver is now, but have not located the person.
