Bakersfield Woman, 45, Killed in Pedestrian Accident is Identified
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (April 16, 2024) — Estella Andino, 45, of Bakersfield, died in a pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver at Ming Avenue and South P Street in south Bakersfield.
The woman was identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as the person struck about 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 14th, 2024.
Estella Andino was struck by an unknown vehicle at the intersection due to unknown circumstances and she died at the scene, the Bakersfield Police Department reported.
The Bakersfield Police Department later arrested 26-year-old Eliezer Camacena-Martinez as a possible suspect in the fatal hit-and-run crash.
Finally, investigators continue to work on the case and witnesses or anyone with information about the collision should contact Bakersfield police.
Bakersfield Accident Statistics
Roughly 135 people were injured or killed in a Bakersfield pedestrian accidents in 2021, according to the latest traffic statistics compiled by the Office of Traffic Safety. The city ranked 8th out of 15 similar size California cities for its number of pedestrian accidents.
Furthermore, some 291 of the 1,863 injury or fatal crashes in the city involved a hit-and-run motorist, the report said. Also, the city ranked in ninth place among California cities with similar populations.
