2 Injured in Pit Bull Attack in Mid-Wilshire Area
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 30, 2021) — Evan Townsley, 53, came to the rescue of an elderly woman being attacked by a pit bull dog, but the dog turned on him and both people were mauled last week at Sixth Street and Cochran Avenue.
The man is being hailed as a hero after the July 23rd incident. He stepped in to save a woman being attacked by a pit bull dog in the Mid-Wilshire area. The man spotted the woman being attacked by the 100-pound animal and screaming for help. He pulled over and stopped his car, got out and intervened. He hoped a knife and martial arts skills would be enough to subdue the dog. Instead, the vicious dog turned on him.
Both were hospitalized with various injuries to their arms and body following the attack. He remained in hospital overnight due to the extensive injuries. He suffered a broken wrist, surgery on both forearms, major puncture wounds down to the bone that inhibit his ability to move his arms or fingers well.
A GoFundMe page was created to help cover Evan Townsley’s medical costs from the dog attack, according to KTLA News.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the incident and criminal charges against the dog owner are possible. The unleashed dog was under the supervision of someone else at the time of the attack.
