Young Man Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash
CHATSWORTH, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2023) – A fatal two-vehicle crash in Chatsworth happened Thursday morning on North Winnetka Avenue.
The deadly traffic accident occurred about 6:05 a.m. in the 8900 block of North Winnetka Avenue between Vanowen Street and Nordhoff Street, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
One of the vehicles involved wound up in the yard of a nearby home, the LAFD said. The motorist was “gravely injured” and became trapped in the wreckage, fire officials said. The victim, later identified as Luis Hernandez Aldave, 28, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the second driver involved suffered minor injuries, but declined an ambulance to take them to a hospital. The person was cooperating with the police investigation into what happened.
It’s unknown at this time what led up to the traffic accident, but police are conducting an investigation into liability at this time.
Finally, traffic in the area was diverted away from the crash scene.
