Semi-Truck, Car Crash on I-5 Freeway in Bakersfield Area
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 18, 2021) — A fatal Bakersfield crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway happened Friday morning just north of the Kern County Raceway Park.
The California Highway Patrol said at least one person died in the two-vehicle crash, just north of Stockdale Highway.
The collision happened about5:56 a.m. on the northbound side of the I-5 Freeway, police said.

A big rig truck and a vehicle were involved and the vehicle caught on fire and became fully engulfed in flames, the report said. It wound up in the center divider of the freeway. It’s unknown how many people occupied the vehicle at this time.
Meanwhile, the semi truck loaded with more than 35,000 pounds of solar panels was blocking all lanes of the freeway. Traffic following the Bakersfield crash on Interstate 5 was moved to the shoulder of the freeway.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
